Most everybody, by now, understands the benefits of installing rain gutters on their buildings. Be it a home, warehouse or doghouse,(don't laugh, I've seen it) a properly installed system will significantly reduce the effects of water damage. Good functioning gutters will protect  everything from the landscaping and foundations to siding, windows, doors and decks. The question is why spend good money on a system to protect your home and then forget about it. Neglected and or forgotten systems can create more problems then they solve.

Without a thorough inpectiondamage caused by faulty sealants or no sealants could go unseen for years ,as did this one
This is a severly rotted window sill from failed gutter system. This rot goes into the framing and was very expensive to fix . This could have been prevented.
contrary to popular thinking fall is not the only time of year that you should clean gutters. Most of this material is from hardwood trees after they drop there spring pollen

.Simply cleaning gutters in the fall is a good start but over time the freeze and thaw cycle can and will loosen spikes and actually break the screws that  secure the gutter to your building. Our harsh northern winters will cause sealants and corners to fail. There are numerous signs that appear when a gutter is begining to fail.  A close inspection by a professional is the best way to see those signs and fix them before your good investment becomes a liability. That liabilty could cost you thousands in home repairs. Let my years of experience work for you.
When run off from rain gutters has no good place to go it will cause problems. In tight quarters with property lines in close proximity, sometimes a dry well is a good option. A simple well with an open bottomed plastic barrel surrounded by gravel and lined with landscape fabric is a great solution to standing water.
